Asterisk the Open Source PBX-Phone System
Asterisk is an Open Source PBX that runs on the Linux operating system. Asterisk’s modular architecture make the application very flexible and suitable for many environments, from small office phone systems to large PBX systems. Asterisk has all the features found on expensive phone systems like Avaya and Nortel systems, but does not require expensive licensing to unlock them. We have been selling, installing and supporting business phone systems for over a decade and we have to say Asterisk has blown anything we’ve ever seen out the door. We now have many customers using Asterisk phone systems with great success and the interest in the product is only increasing! Asterisk’s Built-In Features
Freepbx is the interface most commonly used with Asterisk when building office phone systems. We use Freepbx with our Asterisk phone systems as it has proven to be the most flexible and feature rich graphical user-interface for the Asterisk software based PBX. Freepbx is web based, meaning it is accessed using a web browser such as Mozilla or Firefox. The interface makes daily administration of the phone system much easier for the common user, as well as provides the users with call detail reports, and an operator panel which shows current system activity
